ABOUT MILESTONES ACADEMY
Milestones Academy was born out of a vested passion for empowering youth to succeed in the future. To achieve this, we built a small pre and primary school which provides an excellent well rounded educational foundation; strong and broad enough for our students to continue to succeed beyond the primary years.
Milestones Academy was registered in March 2018 here in Bahari Beach, Dar es Salaam. We pledge to assist and inspire our students to meet all key milestones of development by facilitating participation and contribution during their in-school learning experiences so that they develop a lifetime love for learning and a yearn to lead. Our outstanding curricula is enriched with activities and content, well above the requirements of NECTA, to give our program an edge.

OUR PROGRAMS
THE PRIMARY SCHOOL
In the Primary school (Ages 5-12), we implement a Cambridge and NECTA hybrid curriculum which offers the best of both, and allows those interested to continue in either the NECTA or the Cambridge systems beyond Primary school to do so successfully and timely. In so doing, we focus to develop a positive attitude towards learning which will allow your child to achieve all national and international standards in both curricula and strive for educational excellence above peers at different schools.
How We Teach Each Child
Expected learning outcomes for each class are defined by the NECTA and Cambridge curriculum which are merged and optimized. Students’ progression checks are completed with each main competency to ensure no child is left behind. This learning approach will include class and individual projects and presentations to ensure we entrench competence, confidence, collaboration and commucation which we value as MILESTONES ACADEMY traits.
We offer national NECTA exams for standard 4 & 7 each year.
THE EARLY CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTRE (PRE SCHOOL)
Our Early Child Development centre at Pre-school focuses on ages 2-4. The mission of the centre is to run an innovative British and Montessori hybrid curriculum which puts your child at the centre of the learning process. We foster a love for learning that builds confidence in your child which goes above and beyond the traditional learning practices. As a result of this exposure, your child will develop the competence and comprehensive understanding of their environment. Your child will build an exemplary collaborative character, will be able to influence peers and be disciplined to share and lead others during group activities. This experience will also entrench in them a humility to give back to the society and the creativity to contribute and inspire participation in others.
How We Teach Each Child
All class sizes are kept to a maximum of 30 students supported by a highly experienced and certified teacher and certified assistant. Classes in the Early Child Development centre will also have a care taker assigned to each class. Our teachers play a core role as facilitators of learning. They present short lessons to the class, but more often to one or two students at a time and leave them to continue the learning through practical application and team work. This allows the teacher to monitor and review the progress of each individual child on a daily basis so that they can keep the challenge level high and prepare appropriate training for the child going forward. Learning in pairs and small groups is encouraged and facilitated to maximize interaction and build shared thinking and and facilitate compounding ideas from an early age.
Classroom programs, equipment and materials are age appropriate and are selected so that they support small groups and individual learning sessions. This enhances exploration and creativity through direct interaction with the environment and/ or modern technology. The Montessori classroom materials are available to develop Mathematics, Sensory development, Language fluency etc. These materials are set up in a learning sequence of simple to complex and concrete to abstract so to facilitate independent and progressive learning as we implement this development program
